QR Gen Open Editor

Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 18, 2026

The Short Version

QR Gen is designed to be private by default. We don't require accounts, we don't collect personal data, and QR codes are generated entirely in your browser. We can't see what you create.

What We Don't Collect

  • No personal information (name, email, phone)
  • No account or login data
  • No cookies for tracking
  • No QR code content (generation happens client-side)
  • No WiFi passwords or contact details you enter

What We Do Collect

We use PostHog (EU-hosted) for anonymous, aggregated usage analytics. This helps us understand which features are used and how to improve the product. PostHog collects:

  • Page views and feature usage (anonymized)
  • Browser type and screen size
  • Country-level location (from IP, not stored)

No personal identifiers are collected or stored. You can block this by using any ad blocker.

Short Links

If you use the "Get Link" feature, the QR code content is stored on our servers (Cloudflare KV) so the link works. A deletion token is provided so you can remove the link at any time. No personal data is attached to stored links.

API Usage

When you use the QR Gen API, we process the data you send to generate a QR code image. This data is not logged or stored. Rate limiting uses your IP address transiently and does not persist it.

Third Parties

We do not sell, share, or transfer data to any third party for advertising or profiling purposes. Our only third-party service is PostHog for anonymous analytics.

Data Storage

QR code history and preferences are stored in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device. You can clear it at any time from the History tab.
