Why use a WiFi QR code

Every encryption type supported

Works with WPA, WPA2, WPA3, WEP, and open networks. Just pick your security type from the dropdown and the QR code handles the rest. Particularly popular with restaurants and cafes that want to give guests instant internet access.

Hidden networks? No problem

If your SSID is hidden, your guests would never find it manually. A WiFi QR code includes the hidden flag so devices connect without the network being broadcast.

Works on iPhone and Android

Both iOS (11+) and Android phones can read WiFi QR codes natively through their built-in camera app. No extra scanner app needed.

How it works

Enter your network details

Type your WiFi network name (SSID), select your encryption type, and enter the password. Toggle the hidden network option if needed.

Customize your QR code

Pick colors, corner styles, and dot shapes to match your space. Add a small logo or icon in the center if you want. The QR code updates live as you design.

Print it or share it

Download as PNG or SVG. Print it for your front desk, tape it to the fridge, frame it for an Airbnb, or text it to someone who is about to visit. For a deeper walkthrough, read our complete guide to WiFi QR codes for cafes.

Frequently asked questions
Does this work on iPhones?

Yes. iPhones running iOS 11 or later can scan WiFi QR codes directly from the Camera app. Just point the camera at the code, tap the notification that appears, and you are connected. No third-party app needed.

Is my WiFi password safe?

Your password never leaves your browser. QR Gen runs entirely in the client — no data is sent to any server. The WiFi credentials are encoded directly into the QR code image on your device, and that is it.

What encryption types are supported?

QR Gen supports WPA/WPA2 (the most common), WPA3, WEP (legacy), and open networks with no password. The generated QR code follows the standard WIFI: URI scheme recognized by all modern phones.

Can I use this for a hidden network?

Absolutely. There is a toggle to mark your network as hidden. When enabled, the QR code includes the hidden flag so the scanning device knows to connect even though the SSID is not being broadcast.

Do I need an internet connection to generate the QR code?

No. QR Gen is a progressive web app that works completely offline once you have loaded it. You can generate, customize, and download WiFi QR codes without any network connection. You can also create QR codes for URLs, contacts, events, and more.
